Great drinks collection. Amazing food.
Unique experience as this is a cigar bar in the city that was grandfathered after the law changed. Do not go here if you are sensitive to smoke. This is a place for a cigar and an old fashioned night cap.
Great selection of drinks.
They are are so freaking awesome. Please come and & have fun. Indoors & out doors. Its amazing.
First Cigar bar I've visited in NYC and I was pleasantly surprised. Staff is incredibly gracious and helpful. The area is very nice and clean. Love that part of the city. Bartender Luis and Casey are great. Drinks are expensive but that's not a big surprise do to the area. Great selection of premium cigars. Definitely will be visiting on a regular basis.
Quiet. Cigar service as expected. Great bourbon selection. Very enjoyable relaxation.
Great ambiance and service. A dying breed. This is definitely a pla e to come and enjoy a good Cigar.
Pretentious, unfriendly all around from employees and guests. It took nearly an hour to get a drink. You have to be buzzed in to enter, and I was not even verbally acknowledged. It seems to be some sort of clubby spot for locals and is completely a waste of time to go, as the absolute rudeness left such a bad taste in my mouth.
Come drink and smoke! Yes. And smoke!I was a scrubby hipster rolling into this place on an off-weeknight, just looking for a place to decompress and enjoy a drink. Well they served me right, with no discrimination against me versus the 3 piece suit gent sitting next to me. All were welcomed in this shiny pricey and low-key bar. I felt cared for and left buzzed and happy. It was a good night of drinks, chats, and watching Lawrence of Arabia and vintage 007 on their tellies. I hope to come back when I'm in the neighborhood again.
Pretty cool place. The staff was really nice.
Looking for a James Bond atmosphere to sip your martinis? Bar and Books is one of three establishments in the New York area where you can guiltily smoke among your lung charring peers. Others locations are 50th &1st, and down town in the meet-packing district. They offer a terrific charcuterie plate with an assortment of cheeses, pate, aged hams and gherkins. Their menu consists mainly of "bar food" but it's acceptable considering your main dish is supposed to be your martini. Be warned, the smell of cigar/cigarette smoke will permeate your skin worse than the gin you just spilled on your tux.
Very nice little spot to hangout and have a little cigar celebration with the boys. Have a fine selection and helpful staff. I would say the food and drink is slightly lacking for the price point but over all still very enjoyable. For sure a place I'd visit again if I were in the area but can't say I'd go out of my way for it. Great place to bring the boys!
Very nice cigar bar. Sitting in the back, listening some music, smoking cigars was a great end to New Year's Eve. My only complaint was they need to upgrade the ventilation system. A lot of smokers and the current system couldn't handle it. Very nice staff. Enjoyable evening.
Great local watering hole. You can enjoy cigars even if you don't smoke them. Air Filtration is 3/5 but everything else is great. People are friendly - drinks are good.
phenomenal place. great variety of cigars, super environment if you like to be important🤣
Love love love! Drinks are phenomenal, the smell of cigars & the quality. It’s a very warm place.
Good service and relatively fair priced vs. other cigar bars in area.I just think it's a little too dark (would be cool if you could actually take a book there) and sometimes the music is out of sync with the place e.g. too loud or fast
I enjoy the Cigar Bar so much! I enjoy the ambience the music the wait staff. The locals are fantastic and when guests come through we have a ball! It’s quiet enough when I want to be in loud enough when I need that too.....
Great place for a quality drink, great staff and customers, need to not mind cigarette smoke.
Classic vibe. Good drinks. You can have cigars at the bar too!
Very intimate bar with the lights down low.
I was planning several events in the city for a party of 8. I emailed weeks prior to confirm a time which was responded to immediately. The person wrote that my reservation was confirmed. All of us show up to find that it was closed. We go to find out that the time of our reservation was before the location even opened. I called the location across town and they had nothing much to say and didn't have the clarity or intelligence to understand their error, ask us to come to their other location and take care of us. Yes, I could have noticed the hours online but this was an issue which could have been corrected weeks ago. A basic concept in hospitality (and to run a successful business) is that your customers are informed and well taken care of. That was not my experience with this location.
One of the few places in New York where you can smoke. Dress code. Good cocktails. Strange that bartender did not know wines.
Used to be better 10 years ago, but still worth a visit. It is expensive and their cigar selection is paltry. But they have a great spirits menu to accompany your smoke. You can bring your own smokes but they will charge a cutting charge. IMO, it's worth the 10 bucks cutting fee in order to avoid smoking one of their overpriced and crappy selection of smokes.
Great drinks and cocktails... But watch out for the hookers! Not what I expected.
Very pleasant. Expensive but worth it.
Great spot for some cocktails and cigars with your friends. Got a reservation for a bachelor party after dinner and my boys loved it.
Rare place open for cigars until 4 am in NYC
Be aware, the menu on the website is for Hudson Bar and Books, not Lexington. That being said this location is larger and as such not as cramped. Very nice staff and just the epitome of smokey scotch bar. My friends enjoyed the mixed drinks they ordered and my scotchs were delicious as usual.
Great place for cigars and whisky, or just for a well made drink. They have live music Wed-Sat. And both, the Piano and Violin guys are completely amazing. Service was fantastic!!!They have a dress code and may charge you some fees if you bring your own cigar or if you are by the time the luve music is going on.Best bar in the UES. Loved it!
Customer service is not a concept understood here.
One of a kind place that is a must, must MUST visit for UES patrons or visitors to the great city of New York. Outstanding service and very romantic.
Classy, relaxed cigar bar. Small cigar selection, great whiskey and bourbon choices.
If you can take the smoke, it is a great place! The live music was amazing! Service was outstanding!
Very nice cigar bar in the city. Friendly with a good selection. I would recommend.
If you have to ask. .😊
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Food: It is a very limited menu.Drinks: Excellent!!Space: One of the few cigar bars in NYC. It is intimate and casual atmosphere. There is a lounge area when you walk in and the bar in the back. The whole place is designed to give you a private library feel. It offers a great selection of cigars. Scene: Pick-up scene. Great after-work crowd! Crowd: 30-60s Mostly men, professional, locals and corporate types.Service: Excellent!
Cool you could see book and drink and very friendly and respectful people and smart.
Possibly New York's best Hidden Gem it's not much of a Hidden Gem cuz everybody knows it but it is almost like home away from home I think there should be many more bars like this all over the city and all over the world with comfortable seating meaning couches which you can sit on forever for as many hours as you want wonderful ambience and with my alter ego James Bond being everywhere or at least hint of 007
Great cigar lounge. A must do when in the city
A very happening place with the millennial. Its a place to go with friends after work a drink or two play pool and hung out.
very upscale and classy. must come if youre into a sexy lifestyle. drinks are great and the service is fantastic
It's cozy in a rainstorm!
Still my favorite place after 1 am
Great cocktailsSit at the bar and smoke cigarsStaff very welcoming
I find this place to be uber classy and I totally love the atmosphere here. The service staff are freaking awesome and I love the menu prices. Very reasonable! And the books are the best part by the way.
Great late night spot, fun people watching, talented live music. I live in the hood and B&B is often my go-to spot for a nightcap before a heading home. That being said, this venue attracts some very colorful, fancy and at times unsavory characters. Ladies watch your drinks (and your men) here.
Great place if you like to smoke. Fine cigars and libations. There is a lot of books too.
My second cigar bar, so much better than the first. I honestly don’t wanna develop another expensive vice, but it’s a somewhat decent place to go for your second cigar. Also the laphroaig is nice.I cannot say anything about its cigar collection, since I’m a total newbie. However I can say the staff is definitely newbie-friendly.
Whiskey and cigar in a quiet setting... perfect.
